Sharpening
GB
IE
General
1) Select the appropriate grinder opening for the knife 1/ the
scissors 3/the screwdriver 2. Take note of the images on the
fold-out page.
2) Always press and hold the On/Off button 4 with your left thumb
(see fold-out page). Thereby, grasp the appliance firmly. The
grinding stone rotates continuously until you release the On/
Off button 4.
3) When the grinding wheel is rotating, follow the steps as described
in the individual chapter for the object being sharpened.
TIPS
First present the blade when the grindstone is rotating.
Always draw the knife or scissors back in an even movement
from the blade stop, not in a repetitive back and forth move-
ment – otherwise the result will be an uneven sharpening.
Do not apply excess pressure and always sharpen only clean
blades, so as to avoid a premature wearing-out of the grind-
stone.
Always sharpen knives and scissors so that the blade is at an
acute angle to the grindstone (as alluded to in the shape of
the opening). Sharpening at the false angle can destroy any
blade.
4) After sharpening, remove all grinding remnants that may be on the
blade with a moist cloth.

GB
IE
NOTE
For sharpening a knife, always use both openings for grinding
the knife 1:
In the right grinding opening you hold the blade tilted to the
right, in the left grinding opening you hold the blade tilted
slightly to the left.
1) Hold the knife by its handle with your right hand and smoothly
pull it, from the handle to the blade tip, towards yourself (see fold-
out page). Thereby, maintain the contour of the knife. Take note
that the pressure applied should not be too firm.
2) Carry through a circular motion from the hilt to the tip of the
blade.
3) Now repeat the same step on the knife in the other grinder open-
ing 1.
4) Repeat steps 1-3 until the desired sharpness has been achieved.
NOTE
If you sharpen a knife with a short blade, only the front end of
the blade is sharpened.

blade of the scissors, from the grip to the blade tip, through the
grinder opening 3 and towards yourself (see fold-out page).
GB

2) Proceed the same way with the other blade of the scissors.
3) Repeat steps 1 and 2 until the desired sharpness has been
achieved.
Flat-head screwdriver
1) Appropriate to its width, insert the screwdriver into one of the two
grinder openings 2 on the front of the appliance (see fold/out
page). Apply only a light pressure.
2) Pull out the screwdriver out and rotate it through 180° on its longi-
tudinal axis. Reinsert it into the appropriate grinder opening 2 and
apply a light pressure. The end face of the screwdriver will now be
ground level and flat.
3) Check the result. If necessary, repeat steps 1 and 2.
